Castello Canevaro

The wedding ceremony and reception will be at Castello Canevaro in Zoagli.

The castle, its original structures built in 1550, overlooks the ocean and is a very short walk from the Zoagli train station.

Zoagli itself is a charming village nestled between cliffs and the Ligurian sea. Colourful buildings, sparkling Mediterranean waters, incredible food and pebble beaches.

Travel

Zoagli is located on the northern west coast of Italy. It is easily accessible from several major Italian airports by a scenic train ride or drive along the coast.

Genoa Airport (GOA) – Closest and most convenient

Distance: ~45 km (about 1 hour by car or train)

Genoa is the nearest airport to Zoagli and a great option if you’re flying from within Europe. From Genoa:

  • Take a direct train to Zoagli (about 1 hour), or

  • Rent a car for a beautiful coastal drive

Pisa Airport (PSA) – Direct flights to and from Gothenburg

Distance: ~140 km (about 2 hours)

Pisa is another lovely option, especially if you want to combine the trip with Tuscany or Cinque Terre. For those of you traveling from Gothenburg, Ryanair offers two direct flights per week, on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Milan Malpensa (MXP) &  Milan Linate (LIN) – The most international flight options, especially from the U.S.
Distance: ~170-190 km (2.5–3 hours by train or car)

From Milan, we recommend:

  • Train from Milano Centrale → Zoagli (with one easy transfer), or

  • Renting a car if you plan to explore Liguria or nearby regions

Trains in Italy

Italy’s trains are one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to travel.

  • Book in advance for the best prices, especially for high-speed trains

  • Use Trenitalia or Italo for high-speed routes

  • Regional trains along the coast are frequent and scenic

  • Zoagli has its own train station, just steps from Castello Canevaro and the sea, with regular trains to Rapallo and other nearby towns.

FAQ

1. How do we get to and from Castello Canevaro on the wedding day?

Castello Canevaro is located right in Zoagli. For guests staying locally, it’s easily reachable by foot or short taxi ride. For those staying in nearby towns, trains run regularly until midnight and the castle is just a few steps from the train station in Zoagli.

We are exploring transportation options for getting you back to your accommodation after the wedding reception, and will share more details closer to the date.

2. Should I rent a car?

A car is not necessary if you’re staying in Zoagli or nearby towns and using trains. If you’d like to explore the countryside or other parts of Italy, renting a car can be a great option.

3. How long should we stay?
Totally up to you! We’ll be in Italy for several days around the celebration and would love to see you for as long—or as short—as your schedule allows.

4. What will the weather be like?

In early September the weather is usually warm, sunny and comfortable with day-time temperatures in the mid to high 20s °C (mid- to high 70s F). Evenings are cool in high teens/low 20s °C (mid 60s F). Rain is unlikely but possible. If it rains it tends to be limited and brief. if it were to rain on the wedding day, we have options to move indoors.

5. What are some fun things to do in the area?

There is lots to do in the area, and here are some tips:

  • Explore the nearby coastal towns such as Portofino and Cinque Terre

  • Take a boat tour (or rent your own)

  • Hike the coastal path between Rapallo and Zoagli

  • Sample local world-class wines at one of the many vineyards in the region

6. Is there a gift registry?

We do not have a gift registry and you will already have given us a tremendous amount by traveling so far to celebrate with us. If you do want to make a contribution to our honeymoon fund, we would of course be very grateful. We will update this space with details on how do do this soon.
